WU Executive MBA – First Austrian Executive MBA to be ranked in the highly prestigious FT Ranking
In the latest Financial Times (FT) Executive MBA Ranking the Executive MBA (EMBA) of the WU Executive Academy (Vienna University of Economics and Business) came in with a respectable rank 52 out of the top 100 programs in the world.
“This year, we participated for the first time in the FT EMBA Ranking, one of the most prestigious MBA rankings worldwide, and are very proud of the excellent performance of our flag-ship program. We are ranked as the first and only Austrian MBA program leaving other internationally renowned universities including St. Gallen, Ashridge and Boston University School of Management behind”, says Bodo B. Schlegelmilch, Dean of the WU Executive Academy.
“In 2009 we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Executive MBA program and consider the FT Ranking, apart from the triple-crown accreditation (EQUIS, AACSB and FIBAA) our program already holds, as another valuation of the outstanding quality and the sustainable benefit for our participants” adds Prof. Schlegelmilch.
Among the top 35 in key categories
The overall ranking is based on the results of 16 sub-categories. „We are particularly happy to feature among the top 35 programs worldwide in four categories that are of particular interest for MBA students” says Prof. Schlegelmilch. As for International Course Experience the WU EMBA achieved a sensational rank 9 outpacing INSEAD, University of Chicago, London Business School and IMD. Offering three field studies to Asia, Eastern Europe and the USA the WU EMBA is one of the leading internationally oriented programs. In terms of Career Progress, Work Experience and International Students the program was ranked 24, 30 and 35.
Though participation criteria
For many years, the Financial Times Ranking is regarded as one of the most prestigious MBA rankings worldwide. The programs finally listed undergo a though pre-selection phase with demanding criteria. The final results are based on an extensive process assessing in particular the quality of the programs and the individual career progress of the participants. In order to guarantee objective results the majority of data is collected directly from the respective program alumni. The universities only provide quantitative data on participants, faculty, curriculum and research activities.
The WU Executive MBA – an Austrian success story
The year 2009 indicates a milestone in the history of the WU Executive Academy. The WU Executive MBA is starting for the 10th consecutive time marking a unique success story in Austrian executive education: Within only 10 years, the WU EMBA has positioned itself as one of the leading MBA programs in Central and Eastern Europe holding a triple-crown accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS and FIBAA), unprecedented in Austria. Since 1999, as many as 200 managers and executives from over 38 countries (e.g. CEE, Dubai, Russia, India) have graduated as alumni of the EMBA from the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the University of Minnesota.
In 2006 the WU EMBA was successfully launched in Romania. This program was ranked No.1 MBA program in 2008 by the leading Romanian financial newspaper „Ziarul Financiar“.
