The University established the first secular institutions of higher education prior to World War II and contributed to the establishment of new Universities in Banja Luka, Mostar and Tuzla. Today, the University has partner relations with over forty Universities in Europe, USA, Canada, and Middle Eastern countries and enrolls approximately 47,000 students in 26 distinct faculties.
The main goal of the University is to raise the quality of studies and to create a contemporary European university which will be an internationally respected representative of Bosnia-Herzegovina and a promoter of traditional, historical, cultural, scientific and artistic values from this part of Europe.
